Social Networks

Many businesses and organizations focus on the organizational struture which management has put into place in order to operate the firm. What they may not realize is that the real work of the business is accomplished through the "social infrastructure" of the organization. These Social Networks become the channels through which information is shared and competencies are developed. Managers who do not understand these social networks risk the inefficiency of not utilizing them to their fullest potential; or they may even destroy these networks by terminating key staff during downsizing.
